In Google Chrome, open your Gmail or Google Drive<\/h2>\n
\n

Find the black menu bar near the top of your screen. Click on Sites. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. Click Blank template.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Type the name for your site. This will become part of your site’s address.<\/p>\n

3. This shows entire address of your website. <\/p>\n

4. Select a theme<\/strong>. Click on a theme to see how it looks. The theme can easily be changed at any time.<\/p>\n

Write on your home page.<\/h2>\n

Change the Page Name<\/h2>\n

By default the front page of your site is titled Home<\/strong>. Type over the word home<\/i> and that will change the page’s name and address. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Create a New Page<\/h2>\n

Click the page with a + next to the pencil to create a new page.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. Type the page title<\/strong>. It will appear at the top of the page and in the page’s address.<\/p>\n

2. Select a location. <\/p>\n

If it is a new type of page put it at the top level<\/strong>. In the example below, Class Photos, Calendar, Word Study, etc. <\/i> are at the top level.<\/p>\n

If it is a new page of the same type, choose the second option. For example, if you make a new page for each newsletter, you might them all under a main newsletter page. In the example below, each week page is beneath Home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Use the More<\/strong> button to manage your website. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Go to the Page actions<\/strong> section if you want to delete the page you are on. You cannot delete the home page.<\/p>\n

Most of the time you will go to the Site actions<\/strong> section. Let’s go there now to Edit site layout<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sidebars<\/h2>\n

You can have one or more sidebars on your site. The site below has 3 sidebars, Classes, Quest Boards, and Helpful Information<\/i>. You can also turn off the sidebar. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Horizontal Navigation Bar<\/h2>\n

This site has a sidebar and a horizontal navigation bar<\/strong>. Weekly Update, Schedule, Blogs, Music News, Contact Info. and Classroom Policies<\/i> are pages on this website that can be accessed from the horizontal navigation bar. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Click on a page in the list and then use the arrow keys to move it to your desired location on the horizontal navigation. Click Done.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Embed a Calendar<\/h2>\n
\n

Google Calendars can easily be embedded into your site. First you need to change the calendar’s settings. <\/p>\n

1. In Google Calendar <\/strong>click on the name of the calendar you want to use. Click on the arrow that appears to the right of the title.<\/p>\n

2. Click Calendar Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To embed a Google Doc, open the doc in your Google drive.<\/p>\n

In the File<\/strong> menu click Publish to the web…<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
