I am pleased to be able to share them with others now.<\/p>\n<p>I was going to summarize the responses, but I found them more powerful in the writers\u2019 own words.\u00a0 I have reformatted their responses, added links, and made minor revisions to the responses to improve readability.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Maggie Hos-McGrane<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I am teaching in Switzerland at the International School of Zug and Luzern. My blog is: <a href=\"http:\/\/transformingtechnology.blogspot.com\/\">http:\/\/transformingtechnology.blogspot.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All our Grade 5 students blog.<\/li>\n<li>One class uses <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\" target=\"_blank\">Wikispaces<\/a> to host a book club where students comment on what they are reading in their Literature Circles.<\/li>\n<li>All Grade 5s used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitstripsforschools.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bitstrips<\/a> for their peace and conflict unit.<\/li>\n<li>All Grade 4s have used\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.voicethread.com\" target=\"_blank\">VoiceThread <\/a>to comment on belief systems.<\/li>\n<li>One class of Grade 5 used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.voicethread.com\" target=\"_blank\">VoiceThread<\/a> to comment on their peace pictures.<\/li>\n<li>All Grade 5s used either <a href=\"ourstory.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">OurStory<\/a> or <a href=\"www.xtimeline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Xtimeline<\/a> to write about tech advances over time. They are just about to start using <a href=\"www.xtranormal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">XtraNormal<\/a> (though we are having problems and might change to GoAnimate) to write about life changes\/ life phases.<\/li>\n<li>One Grade 4 class used <a href=\"earth.google.com\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Google Earth <\/a>to write about how the landscape affects people.<\/li>\n<li>Grade 2s used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimmertwins.com\" target=\"_blank\">ZimmerTwins<\/a> to write about healthy lifestyles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Mister Norris<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">ISSH, Tokyo<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here are a few tools that I would use if I was teaching writing in my class:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"www.mindnode.com\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Mind Node<\/a> &#8211; Free mind mapping software for Macs. Great to plan writing sessions before they start.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"etherpad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Etherpad.com<\/a> &#8211; Online, real time colaberative wordprocessor. Children could write parts of a story together, write notes together at the same time, edit work, etc. The possibilities are endless! I love this website!\u00a0<em> [Editor Note: Etherpad has since been acquired by Google. The creators of Etherpad have a new site: <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachwith.me\"><em>www.teachwith.me<\/em><\/a><em> with very similar features.]<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"audacity.sourceforge.net\/ \" target=\"_blank\">Audacity<\/a> &#8211; Free recording software.
