{"id":116,"date":"2006-09-14T14:22:00","date_gmt":"2006-09-14T14:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ssedro.com\/blog\/?p=116"},"modified":"2006-09-14T14:22:00","modified_gmt":"2006-09-14T14:22:00","slug":"elusive-rss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ssedro.com\/blog\/2006\/09\/14\/elusive-rss\/","title":{"rendered":"Elusive RSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1999\/xhtml\">\n<p>When I first started aggregating blog feeds to make it easier to keep up with my favorite blogs, I often had trouble finding the correct subscription address.\u00a0 This was complicated by Pluck.\u00a0 I was using an early version of it and when I would click on a link to someone&#8217;s RSS feed, Pluck would feel obliged to launch and complicate matters, since I didn&#8217;t want to store the feed in Pluck.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pluck.com\/\">Pluck<\/a> matured and became a stable tool, I came to rely on it to help me find elusive RSS feeds.\u00a0 I would then copy the address into my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.versiontracker.com\/dyn\/moreinfo\/macosx\/15500\">NetNewsWire Lite<\/a>.\u00a0 This has worked well for the past year.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>Now I am having troubles again.\u00a0 Numerous times in the past week I&#8217;ve wanted to subscribe to the feeds on new blogs, but haven&#8217;t been able to get the real feed URL.\u00a0 The one that Pluck gives me doesn&#8217;t work in NetNewsWIre.\u00a0 I tried using the Live Bookmark feature in Firefox instead, but that was no better. I tried finding it using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flock.com\/\">Flock<\/a>, a web browser designed to play nicely with social web technologies, but that isn&#8217;t working either.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>I thought it might be a problem with NetNewsWire Lite.\u00a0 In the forums I see people are having trouble with the latest version- it isn&#8217;t always updating feeds.\u00a0 However, I\u00a0 see no mention of my particular problem, and my feeds seem to be refreshing just fine. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m wondering if some of the problem is arising from new bloggers using templates with built in feed links.\u00a0 It may be that they haven&#8217;t activated the RSS feed feature.\u00a0 I&#8217;m especially having trouble with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edublogs.org\/\">Edublogger<\/a> blog feeds, which would make sense as new teachers, not familiar with RSS, make their first attempts at blogging.<\/p>\n<p>Is anyone else having this problem lately?\u00a0 Anyone found a solution?
